Prevent the winter blues, strengthen your immune system and improve metabolism this winter with Vitamin D.

 Why You Need Vitamin D

Vitamin D is crucial to a number of aspects of health. Most well known for its ability to strengthen the bones and boost calcium absorption, it also improves immune function, reduces chronic disease, assists in mood regulation and weight control.

A deficiency in this crucial vitamin can cause hair loss, chronic pain, sluggishness and decreased wound healing.

Vitamin D is found in very few food sources naturally, and those of us who spend most of our time in Canada all winter get no natural Vitamin D conversion from October to May

Taking a vitamin D supplement is an easy and effective way to ensure you’re able to meet your needs with minimal easily.

Take this vitamin D level self-test

If you have not had your levels checked, here is a simple test:

Count how many “yes’s” you answer:

  • I rarely go out in the sun
  • I put on sun-block before I leave the house
  • My clothes cover most of my body
  • I live above 35 degrees latitude in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere (in other words: north of Atlanta and LA or south of Sydney-Australia, Santiago-Chile or Buenos Aires-Argentina)
  • I do not take a vitamin D3 supplement
  • I do not eat wild, oily fish (salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines) two or three times a week
  • I do not eat a lot of mushrooms
  • I’m overweight and carry significant fat
  • When I press firmly on my sternum (breastbone around your heart), it hurts
  • When I press firmly on my shins, it hurts
  • I feel less energy and muscle strength than I should
  • I’m depressed for no good reason
  • I have an autoimmune disorder such as Hashimoto’s, Graves’, Celiac

If you checked more than 3 of the above boxes, there is a high chance you are vitamin D deficient.  Ask your doctor about a blood test done to confirm your Vitamin D levels.
